Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival, your driver will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha. The day offers optional explorations, including a visit to one of Arusha’s famous art galleries or the bustling Maasai Market, where wood carvings, paintings, and handmade bracelets reflect local craftsmanship. You can spend the rest of your day relaxing and preparing for the safari ahead.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Today you make your way to Tarangire National Park, a haven for large elephant herds and towering baobab trees. The Tarangire River sustains abundant wildlife throughout the year, attracting lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo, and a thriving population of elephants. The changing landscapes and rich game viewing make your day both exciting and rewarding. After your safari, you will head to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you depart for Lake Manyara National Park for a half-day game drive. This compact but diverse park is home to tree-climbing lions, enormous troops of baboons, elephants, hippos, and an impressive variety of birdlife. The alkaline lake attracts hundreds of species of birds, creating a scenic backdrop for your wildlife encounters. In the afternoon, you return to your camp for dinner and a peaceful evening overlooking the escarpment.
Day 4: Manyara to Lake Natron
This morning brings a scenic drive towards Lake Natron, a strikingly remote area shaped by volcanic landscapes. After lunch, local guides lead you on a refreshing walk to the Ngaresero Waterfall, a hidden gem tucked between dramatic cliffs. Later in the day, you explore the shores of Lake Natron, the most important breeding ground for lesser flamingos in East Africa. Millions of flamingos gather here during the breeding season, creating breathtaking views at sunset along the Great Rift Valley. You end the day with dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Lake Natron to Northern Serengeti
After breakfast, you journey from Lake Natron into the Northern Serengeti. The landscapes gradually shift from arid terrain to the lush woodlands of the northern plains. You will spend the day exploring the Mara River region, the heart of the Great Migration. If lucky, you may witness the dramatic river crossings as wildebeest and zebras battle currents and predators. Rocky outcrops and open plains provide an excellent habitat for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and many other species. You arrive at your camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Northern Serengeti Exploration
The entire day is dedicated to exploring the Northern Serengeti. You can choose to enjoy morning and afternoon game drives or spend the whole day in the bush with packed lunches. This region is known for its spectacular river crossings, vast landscapes, and the iconic Serengeti kopjes that act as shelters and lookout points for predators. As the sun sets, you return to your camp for another tranquil night in the wilderness.
Day 7: Northern to Central Serengeti
Today you journey south toward Central Serengeti, enjoying game viewing along the way. The Serengeti’s diverse ecosystems—ranging from wooded areas to open savannah—offer encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes, and an array of smaller predators and herbivores. Upon arrival in Central Serengeti, you may opt for a guided nature walk with an armed ranger, giving you a chance to stretch your legs and experience the sounds and scents of the bush up close. You spend the night at your tented camp within the park.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
Early in the morning, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of wildlife viewing. The crater’s fertile plains support an exceptional concentration of animals, including wildebeest, buffalo, zebras, hippos, and elephants. The crater is also one of the few places where the endangered black rhino can still be seen. During your exploration, you visit Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake that attracts flamingos and other water birds. After your picnic lunch inside the crater, you drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Mto wa Mbu Cultural Experience – Departure
Your final day begins with a short drive to the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu. Here, a local guide leads you through the village for an immersive cultural experience. You walk through farms, markets, and community spaces, learning about traditional food, banana beer production, and daily life in this diverse community. After a local lunch, you continue to Arusha or proceed directly to the airport for your departure.
