Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival in Tanzania, your safari begins with a warm welcome from your Lion King representative, who will escort you from the airport to your lodge in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may simply unwind and settle in or take the opportunity to relax as you prepare for the exciting journey ahead. Arusha is a bustling hub for travelers heading into the northern safari circuit, offering the perfect first glimpse into Tanzanian life.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up as you depart for Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive of about two and a half hours. Named after the Tarangire River, the park comes alive in the dry season when wildlife gathers at this vital water source. Elephant herds dominate the landscape, joined by giraffes, zebras, buffalos, and antelopes. Predators such as lions and leopards are often spotted following their prey. With its ancient baobab trees and exceptional birdlife, Tarangire offers a unique and enchanting atmosphere. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park before you continue exploring and later drive to your lodge in Karatu.
Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park
This morning, you’ll ascend into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through lush highlands before descending toward the wide-open plains of the Serengeti. Along the way, you will stop at the Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint for a breathtaking look into the vast caldera below. As you enter the southern Serengeti, the scenery opens into the classic African savannah, home to enormous herds of wildlife. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the great migration as thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes move across the plains. After a picnic lunch and continued game viewing, you’ll head to your tented camp in Central Serengeti for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Full-Day in Serengeti National Park
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti. With its endless grasslands and remarkable wildlife, the park offers superb sightings of big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Large herds of buffalo, impala, and hippos also thrive in these ecosystems. You can choose to return to camp for lunch between game drives or spend the full day in the wilderness, enjoying a picnic lunch at a scenic spot. Every corner of the Serengeti promises something extraordinary, making this a day filled with exceptional wildlife moments.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a final Serengeti game drive as you slowly make your way toward Ngorongoro. The journey itself is rich with wildlife encounters and sweeping views. In the afternoon, you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater—a natural sanctuary teeming with animals. This unique ecosystem supports vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and impressive birdlife. The crater is one of the best places in Africa to spot the endangered black rhinoceros grazing on the open grasslands. After exploring the crater floor, you’ll head to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and rest.
Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park & Departure
Your final safari day begins with a journey to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact but strikingly diverse wildlife haven. The Great Rift Valley escarpment towers above the park, while the shallow soda lake below attracts flamingos and over 500 bird species. The forested areas shelter baboons and elephants, while the acacia woodlands are known for the rare and famous tree-climbing lions. After a picnic lunch and final game drive, you will be transferred to your chosen drop-off point—Arusha, Arusha Airport, or Kilimanjaro International Airport—marking the end of your unforgettable Tanzanian safari.
